Love Disarmed by Reed & Barton is one of the most highly sought out and collectible
Sterling Silver Flatware Patterns in the world.
It is extremely heavy weight and the figural representation of a mother and child make this quite a dramatic and beautifully ornate sterling silver pattern worthy of the table of royalty.
For several decades in the 1980's and 1990's a silverware dealer in Virginia was doing large scale high quality production runs of Love Disarmed in cooperation with Reed and Barton and was aggressively marketing the pattern, they even owned the dies. However, as the popularity of silver started to decline in the 21st Century and the dies started to become worn, it was not worthwhile to pay the money to retool them and so around the year 2005 was about the last time a production run was made, and as far as we know there will likely never be any more runs forthcoming.
So that all said, the vast majority of the Love Disarmed extant in the marketplace today is somewhat contemporarily made and not from the early 20th Century. It's hard to tell the difference unless you are an astute collector and in most cases there is little to no value difference between the newer mader and the older.
